It's not too early to make this call. I was the founder of the Dean Nation blog, which became "unofficial" campaign blog, read by the campaign insiders and Joe Trippi himself; we raised over $40,000 for Howard and then supported him for DNC Chair.
And then I supported Obama all the way, and I defend Obama right now against the progressive left because I think Obama is exactly the right person at the time. To that end, I disagree with a lot of what Dr. Dean has been saying, especially during the healthcare debate and with respect to the public option.
However, I think Dean serves a critical role - to exert leftwards pressure, to keep the USS Obama sailing true center. And when the Obama era closes, I think the Dean Era needs to begin.
